Institution Portal
You're signed in, but not attached to an institution.

The institution portal is where school admins manage their organization's Solus deployment. You'll get access when someone at your institution invites you as a teacher OR your organization applies for a Solus institutional plan.

Contact information

Used for approval notifications, security alerts, DPA correspondence, and billing.

Appears on DPAs and invoices. Optional if your display name is already the legal one.

Invoices and payment failures are copied here. Leave blank to reuse the primary contact.
Minimum assignment policy

Sets the floor for how strict any teacher in your institution can be. Individual teachers may raise this on a per-assignment basis — they cannot lower it below your minimum.

What each policy does →

Essay (default) — students may paste, but everything pasted goes into a quarantine section of the certificate. The teacher sees the paste with a hash and a word count. Best for research papers where block quotes and citations are expected.

Exam — paste is blocked entirely. Ctrl-V, right-click paste, drag-drop, and programmatic input are all rejected. Best for in-class writing, timed responses, and exam settings where no external material should appear.

Publish — paste is blocked and spellcheck/autocomplete suggestions must be typed to accept (no "tab-to-accept"). Best for journalism-style assignments where every word must be a deliberate keystroke.

Enterprise — Publish rules plus all optional behavioral checks are required (focus/attention, dynamics baseline, per-signal minimums). Best for high-stakes certification writing (proctored exams, thesis chapters, credentialing).

Changes take effect on new assignments. Existing assignments keep the policy they were created with.

SSO (Single Sign-On)

Solus supports SAML 2.0 SSO. Setup is manual today — we'll configure it for you and reply with the SP metadata your IdP needs.

To enable SSO:
  1. Email soluseditor@gmail.com with your IdP metadata URL and attribute mapping.
  2. We configure your tenant and confirm within 1 business day.
  3. We reply with the SP metadata URL to register in your IdP.
  4. You test with a single user, then roll out to your org.
Compatible with Okta, Azure AD, Google Workspace, and any SAML 2.0 IdP. Self-serve configuration is on the roadmap.
LTI 1.3 Integration (Canvas / Blackboard / Moodle)

Contact soluseditor@gmail.com to enable LTI for your LMS. Provide your client_id, deployment_id, and platform JWKS URL from the LMS tool registration. Use these URLs when registering Solus as an LTI tool:

Add-ons
Web-search plagiarism check
Extends the built-in cross-submission plagiarism check to also query the general web (Wikipedia, blog posts, publicly-shared essay banks). Passes queries through Serper. Distinct from Solus's core provenance verification, which stops the two paths plagiarism travels through at input time.

Real per-batch cost is ~$1.10 (Serper queries + payment processing). Pricing covers cost with a thin buffer, not high margin — see spec 13 for the full model. Cross-submission (within your institution) is included with all paid Solus plans and doesn't require this add-on.
